Version 0.3 at FEE3 2023

Hello everyone, it's been a while! Thank you again for keeping up with the game's development.



So, Project Stratagem has had another release at FEE3 2023! Again, I appreciate the people there for letting me showcase the game's development. This year's release probably has the most additions and changes so far, and I can say that the game is becoming more complete every day. Some of the additions are things like more characters, more story content, etc. While there's a couple of features still planned, this is the most definitive version so far.


Note that everything in the game is still subject to change.



Gameplay Changes

The gameplay has seen a couple of changes. Notably, there's an overhaul to the Positive Mark system that was present in the last build. Positive Marks can be used to gain unique benefits, as well as access a universal Knockdown Command, which allows the player to sabotage enemies.


There's also some more characters added to the mix, as well as other changes to the gameplay formula. Some newer chapters also feature twists on the gameplay, such as unique hazards and terrain.



Affinity Talks

The player can also talk to their allies during breaks in the story. These Affinity Talks allow the player to further connect with allies, as well as giving them new skills to use during battle.


My vision for Project Stratagem's loop was a cycle consisting of battles, Affinity Talks, and story progress. This is the final piece of the puzzle added, and it presents important decisions for the player. Time is finite, so think about how you want to build your team. Alternatively, you can just go with whoever seems the most interesting.



Story Development


With the addition of more chapters, there also comes more story. Finally, the game gets a meaty chunk of story to see. Due to three more chapters being present, the game has a proper introduction to its antagonists, as well as the main protagonists.


Project Stratagem's story is a bit unorthodox, but I hope you enjoy what's currently there. The story is heavily focused on its characters and interpersonal conflicts. Due note that all current writing is subject to change, as well as the fact that Chapter 3 isn't ready yet. This is a slice of the experience, but one that will likely be altered in future releases.



Feedback and the Future


I've been using the yearly release schedule to keep the game on track. However, the game's development may shift in the future. The game will release eventually, that I guarantee, but I have some plans in the making that I think people will like.
